Just in time for the Holiday, my interview with Rabbi Ruth Abusch Magder of B'chol Lashon's blog Jewish&. B'chol Lashon (Hebrew for 'in every tongue') is interested in the mulitfaceted experiences of Jewish diversity.
In Part I of this Interview we discuss what it meant to grow up Jewish in Guatemala, my personal relationship to Judaism and Israel, and how some of these notions underlie and inform my practice as an artist.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Curator Rocío Aranda Alvarado and her talented staff at El Museo del Barrio who have gathered a remarkable group of artists in the exhibition "nasty women / bad hombres". It is a thoughtful and timely exhibition, which offers some deeply felt responses to a political/cultural moment fraught with anxiety.
Yesterday, as I moved through the galleries, I felt that each artist project amplified and extended the ones around it.
A case in point, Nari Ward's installation of a swing made from an automobile tire, but suspended from a noose and crusted with fragments of broken shoes is an inspired counterpart to my own work, which is installed directly adjacent to his. With its sense of rupture and transformation the sculpture moves from idyllic childhood pastime to personal trauma. As such, it overlaps with themes and concerns which are central to my work.
And so on, the exhibition flows beautifully from one artist to the next.
It came as no surprise to me that the exhibition made it to artnet's list of must-see Museum shows in New York City. And I am particularly gratified that one of my images from The Street Becomes illustrates the feature.

So pleased to share this publication of my recent work from Cuba in LENSCRATCH, one of my favorite photography blogs. This feature is part of a larger series curated by my friend and colleague Eleonora Ronconi, which examines an individual's search for home.
Of particular importance for me, is the essay which accompanies these photos, which is a meditation on my first experience of Cuba, a land which had so long and so vividly occupied my imagination before I was able to experience it firsthand.

A short portfolio of my most recent body of work "El Sistema" in the Fall 2014 American Photo Magazine "On Campus" Edition.
As a teenager growing up in Guatemala, I remember waiting with great expectation to see the new issues of this remarkable magazine arrive in the mail. The December issue of Black and White features a 10 page portfolio of my YONKEROS series in its pages. The photographs are accompanied by George Slade's wonderful essay. Issue is available on newstands now!
It is a true honor to be included in this end-of-year photo book list by distinguished designer, editor and writer Elizabeth Avedon.
This past summer I reviewed two NYC exhibitions for the online publication fototazo. This month my piece is translated into Korean and published in Sajinyesul "PhotoArt Magazine".
A special issue of GQ Style Korea with the theme "The Beautiful City of Seoul" features this double-page spread with one of my images of the city. I took the photograph on one of my many endless - and fascinating - walks through the city this past summer.
